| Like many on the forum, I've been running those old school 3" downpipes bolted directly to 2.5" tubing. Obviously there is quite a change in pipe diamiter in addition to a significant bend so it's hardly a smooth flow. But I always imagined that this still helped spool up because behind the turbo is that low pressure 3" open area that 'fills up' quickly until eventually equalizing with the rest of the system when engine reaches full boost. One might argue that once there is pressure in the whole exhaust system it will still flow well even with the 'expansion chamber'. I dunno, but what I do know is the car is fast as hell and I like it a lot. lol. I'll be ready to upgrade to your downpipes if you can prove a nice gain with your new design, I'm just not sure I'm i'll be going to a 5 bolt turbo so I have been waiting...
